Description
Kardi R40T50 perforated sheet metal Kardi a very airy and bright visual signature: Ø 40 mm circles arranged in a staggered pattern with a constant pitch constant 50 mm. Standardized as Rv40-50, this perforated geometry provides nearly 60% open area, a relevant ratio when the objective is to ensure high airflow, generous light transmission, and a noticeable reduction in the weight of the envelope. The triangular perforation pattern ensures uniform distribution of the openings: the shadow pattern remains soft and non-directional; when viewed from a distance, the surface appears as a homogeneous, highly breathable perforated veil.
The Ø 40 mm holes create a bold graphic design. Depending on the color applied, the effect varies from a muted finish (dark tones) to a bold presence (light, metallic tones). The perforated pattern is suitable for ventilated facades, technical space screens, HVAC unit covers, cladding, and parking lot coverings where ventilation and transparency are paramount. In an urban context, the viewing angle and glare management should be evaluated; an offset double skin can enhance visual privacy without compromising ventilation.
In perforated sheet metal with T = 50 mm and D = 40 mm, the metal bridges in line reach approximately 10 mm (T – D). Diagonally across the triangular mesh, the minimum reserve drops to around 3.3 mm (√3/2 · T – D ≈ 43.3 – 40). This remaining material, which is very limited in the oblique direction, requires a strict structural approach:
• for 2 mm steel, favor modest unframed formats;
• add a welded/bolted load-bearing frame and/or stiffening profiles;
• in windy locations, areas subject to stress (impact, vibration, vandalism) or for large spans, aim for a thickness of 3 mm
• reduce the fixing pitch and increase the number of support points on the secondary framework.
When properly supported by a suitable frame, the triangular perforation pattern effectively distributes stress in both axes and ensures satisfactory stability despite the large opening.
Perforated holes with a diameter of 40 mm provide significant airflow but allow large objects to pass through.
Made of 2 mm thick galvanized steel, R40T50 perforated sheet metal generally costs between €60 and €105/m² for around 100 m² of supply, depending on the thickness, finish, installation pattern, presence of frames/stiffeners, and site context. Generous openings lighten the mass and make the perforated skin very light; on the other hand, the support becomes more prominent and must be anticipated in the architectural expression. Uses
R40T50 – Kardi perforated sheet metal Kardi openness, regularity, and mechanical balance. Its 40 mm round pattern in a staggered arrangement forms a harmonious and fluid grid offering nearly 60% transparency, ideal for applications requiring high ventilation, generous light, and unobstructed visibility. With its large openings and stable geometry, Kardi perforated sheet metal Kardi a natural fit for open contemporary architecture: ventilated facades, openwork fences, cladding for ventilated parking lots, and envelopes for public facilities.
The R40T50 perforation is distinguished by its high ratio of open space to solid material. The large diameter of the perforations promotes air and light circulation while preserving the rigidity of the metal thanks to a regular staggered pattern. This fluid design avoids moiré effects and provides a consistent appearance from a distance.
R40T50 perforated sheet metal is used in urban fencing to create a light and breathable visual filter. It marks a separation without forming a closed barrier, allowing light and sightlines to pass through.
With 58% transparency, R40T50 sheet metal promotes effective natural ventilation, ideal for technical building envelopes or facade cladding requiring thermal regulation. The large openings in its perforations allow light to diffuse widely, producing a play of shadows and reflections that change throughout the day. As cladding, it visually lightens the structure while giving it a clear and orderly rhythm.
The percentage of nearly 60% allows for great air circulation and even light diffusion. The sheet metal acts as a material veil, visible on the facade but almost immaterial when backlit.
In frontal light, the circular pattern emphasizes the geometry of the motif. In low-angle light, it becomes texture and relief. Team advice
